# SNAP 2014 Question-25

[latexpage]
Q.) If the numerator of a fraction is increased by 200% and the denominator is increased by 200%, then resultant fraction is $2\frac { 4 }{ 5 }$ . What is the original fraction?

(a) 4/7
(b) 13/12
(c) 11/12
(d) None of these

Solution :

Let the fraction is $\frac { X }{ Y }$

When Numerator is increased by 200% , then new numerator = $X+\frac { X*200 }{ 100 }$ = 3X

When Denominator is increased by 200% , then new Denominator = $Y+\frac { Y*200 }{ 100 }$ = 3Y

$\frac { 3X }{ 3Y } =2\frac { 4 }{ 5 } =\frac { 14 }{ 5 }$

=> $\frac { X }{ Y } =\frac { 14 }{ 5 }$

Hence , Option(d).
